"Thank you for not being fat"

I’m so glad to be on my way at last! Packing was way more stressful than I had originally planned. There was only one brief emotional break down last night that was quickly gotten over with the help of a neck rub from mom and a well timed Natasha Beddingfield’s song “Unwritten” that came on the radio in my room. Now I am not sure if it’s possible to NOT forget anything, but until further notice, I believe this impeccable packing job will leave me missing nothing! (We’ll see how long this confidence lasts…)

Flying is rarely boring for me and this trip has not been an exception so far. The man I sat next to on my first Delta flight immediately thanked me for not being fat! He said he had nightmares that a 300 lb person would sit next to him and wouldn’t be able to put the arm rest down. Hahah.. I wasn’t sure what to say so I just told him “I do what I can!” Then, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there’s wifi on the plane!! Alas… It costs about $10 to log on. Not worth the short amount of time I’d actually need internet in the air. Luckily I am now at CDG Airport in Paris and they have wifi, but I only get 10 minutes for free :/

It’s almost 8 a.m. here and my flight doesn’t board until 12:10 so I have just a LITTLE time to hang around. There’s plenty of stuff to do though.. I plan to buy a croissant ASAP because I’m famished and then maybe even a glass of wine a later (it’s so early though, I’m not sure if that would be a good idea hah..)

I just visited the women’s restrooms and I’m very pleased to tell you that the toilets were pink. Just thought you all should know that. In other exciting news, my mini perfume bottle spilled in my bag so everything smells wonderful and I have an excuse to buy duty free perfume at the little shopping mall in the terminal :D ;D

I’m beyond ADD right now so I’m going to go explore or eat or run off with a cute French boy on a moped. ß Juuuust kidding about that last one mom & Dad! You know I’d only do that in Italy ;D

Peace out home-slices <3

  1. woo-hoo, enjoy that croissant! Actually, as I write this you're on the plane to Rabat.

We had fun using Delta flight status to watch your inter-continental flight slide across the Atlantic.
So good to know the CDG women's toilets are pink! A relief to know Paris is still stylish!

  2. Have I mentioned how freaking proud I am of you? I have to brag about this adventure of yours to everyone I know, because I can't let them think that you just signed-up for some pre-fab study abroad program and are being hand-held every step of the way. I'm amazed at how you researched, set up, and are now executing this whole thing up yourself. (Not "surprised", just AMAZED!). I know it's not the safest thing you could be doing right now, and your mother and I ARE CONCERNED, but these are the kinds of challenges you're made for. A life of safety and insignificance just isn't for you, is it, Bear?

    Vaya con Dios, hija!

  3. HEY!! Okay, I guess I can share 'Unwritten' with you as a theme song. It first came out when I was training for the Danskin triathlon, and it had a lot of additional meaning invested in it for me when I shared it with a friend of mine who had just finished treatment for breast cancer. And now that I'm so-called "retired," it's still hanging in there as my personal favorite song ...

Glad it popped up at an opportune moment for you, kiddo. Put it on your iPod, for sure. (I did.)
